There'll be no need to tune into the same bat channel at the same bat time anymore - Batman and Batgirl can always be in your lounge now! This suitably cheesy 8x10 of Batman and Batman has been signed by Adam West and Yvonne Craig who starred in the classic 1960s series.  We obtained this Adam West signature at a recent convention in London. Unfortunately, he would not allow photographs to be taken whilst signing.  

For those unfamiliar with the Batman story, which first appeared in comic books in 1939, Batman is Bruce Wayne. Teenager Bruce Wayne was traumatized by witnessing his parent’s murder and vowed to avenge their deaths by bringing the criminals to justice. Bruce Wayne used his vast fortune to study criminology, to train his body to athletic perfection, and to acquire high tech vehicles and weapons to fight crime in his hometown of Gotham. One night Bruce Wayne was startled by a bat outside his window and decided to dress himself as a “bat man” to strike fear in the “cowardly and superstitious” hearts of criminals. From that moment forward, Bruce Wayne became “Batman” in his altered state.

Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon,  was librarian by day, but rapidly transformed into Batgirl when needed to help the dynamic duo! In 1967, Batman had been on the air for two years the novelty of the cool gadgets and the exciting villians seemed to be wearing off slightly and ratings were beginning to wane. The producers wanted to add something to attract a larger group of viewers. Enter Batgirl, a young dynamic sexy crime fighter that would capture the older men and young girl market of the population.

The cult 1960s series Batman continues to entertain Batfans across the globe. Adam West and Burt Ward's colourful and cheesy take on the Dynamic Duo is quite a contrast to the dark on gothic feel of the recent Hollywood movies. The series took the world by storm during the swinging sixties and its popularity shows no sign of waning. As Robin would say:-
