Zoe Wanamaker Signed Madame Hooch Display

"None of you is to move while I take this boy to the hospital wing! You leave those brooms where they are or you'll be out of Hogwarts before you can say 'Quidditch.'"

This splendid Harry Potter display consists of a picture of Madame Hooch and the signature of Zoe Wanamaker who played her in the first Potter movie. The piece has been professionally double matted using acid free materials and using sympathetic colours. The display would be perfect for any young wizarding fan's bedroom - why not check out our other Hogwarts displays (in matching colours) and decorate the whole room!

Zoë Wanamaker was born on May 13th 1949 in New York, daughter of actor/director Sam Wanamaker and Charlotte Holland. Zoë joined the Central School of Speech and Drama, and after spending 3 years there she left in 1970 and went straight on to stage. She went from strength to strength and recently became an Associate to The National Theatre, on the South Bank in London. She also remains a trustee of Shakespeare's Globe, at which she has recently unveiled a Blue Plaque that was awarded to her father for his efforts, and recognition of the Globe. The award was a people's choice award voted by the public, and Zoë accepted this on his behalf. The Blue Plaque can be found on the site of the Globe.

She went from stage to our TV screens in many different roles and slipped from one role to the next with no problem and so much talent. She currently plays Susan Harper, alongside Robert Lindsay , in the hilarious BBC sitcom My Family . It was, however, her on off romance with Adam Faith as Tessa Piggott in Love Hurts in the early 1990s which really made her a household name. Zoe’s father Sam  is most well known for the reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre on the South Bank in London. He was passionate about building a faithful replica of The Globe and spent nearly thirty years trying to get his project finished. Sam was awarded a CBE early 1993 and sadly later died that year of cancer. Queen Elizabeth II opened the Globe in June 1997 and fittingly it was Zoë who was the first person to speak on stage where she read a passage from Henry V.

A somewhat fierce appearing woman, with short grey hair and yellow eyes like a hawk, Madame Hooch is the flying instructor and Quidditch referee of Hogwarts.  In the first film she is seen giving Harry’s class their first flying lesson – which leaves poor Neville with a broken wrist, ultimately that of course indirectly wins Harry a place on the Quidditch team. Whilst Madame Hooch rushes Neville to the hospital wing,  Professor McGonagall spots Harry chasing Malfoy through the air to recover Neville’s rememberall. Madame Hooch is clearly strict, no-nonsense, and passionate about Quidditch.  As Zoe herself states, "She's all eagle."
