The Twins are a program. Existing from an earlier version of The Matrix, they were to be deleted, but chose exile instead. Employed by the Merovingian, they work as both bodyguards and assassins, and are brutally efficient with their pearl-handled switchblades. Standing at about 6'5", they are striking enemies.    

Pale as death, with silver dreadlocks and long white trenchcoats, the Twins have a ghoulish appearance- and for good reason. Able to change into a "ghost" form at will, they are capable of passing through any physical material, and physical material is able to pass through them. They return from this ghost form fully healed of any wounds they may have previously had. From heeled boots to dreadlocks, the twins are virtually identical and indistinguishable from one another. Speaking always in plural, ("we" and not "I"), the Twins don't seem to be seperate beings so much as branches of the same entity.

In The Matrix Reloaded Neo, Morpheus, Trinity, and the rest of their crew continue to battle the machines that have enslaved the human race in the Matrix.
